“I'm not trapped. I’ll be free eventually.” I told myself. The door blared at me while I continued pushing it, trying to free myself. “I'm not trapped. I’ll be free eventually.” I repeated.

I was only coming here to get some food for my friends. It had been seven months since we’d seen our parents, we didn't know if they were dead or alive. We waited in our homes for 2 weeks, hoping they’d return before we gave up and tried to survive on our own. But with every other adult trying to ‘rescue’ us, it was hard to not give up. At least we've survived this long without being taken prisoner. Until today. “I'm not trapped. I’ll be free eventually.”

Finally, a heard a voice. “Liz? Where are you?”

I replied, shouting as loud as I could through the strong metal door. I could hear her tugging on the door, forwards and backwards trying to get it open. I slid down the wall, bringing my knees to my chest. “I'm not trapped. I’ll be free eventually.” I was trying to calm myself down, but I'd been locked in this room for half an hour. I could feel myself shaking and my breath was far too fast. I've felt this far too many times. “I'm not trapped!” I shouted at myself. But it was useless. I was trapped. I will be forever.
